GET Joint Venture Earns Third Nomination for DOE Small Business of the Year

GET-NSA, LLC, has been nominated for DOE Small Business of the Year for the third year in a row. The DOE Small Business of the Year award, granted by the Secretary of Energy, is the most coveted recognition a DOE contract recipient can aspire to. The Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU) describes the award as one that “recognizes the creative, unique, and extraordinary performance of a small business which has significantly and directly impacted core DOE mission objectives and requirements.”

In its nomination submission, the Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Environment, Health, Safety and Security (EHSS) stated that it “…takes pleasure in acknowledging the superior performance of GET-NSA…” in that “GET-NSA surpassed expectations and contract requirements and made a significant contribution to the advancement of the Office of Classification mission objectives and requirements across the entire DOE/NNSA complex and to other Government agencies.”

The nomination goes on to note, “This work effort would present substantial performance challenges to any contractor, regardless of size. GET-NSA’s extraordinary achievements in supporting the DOE Office of Classification in FY 2017 are therefore all the more remarkable for having been accomplished by a small business.”

“GET-NSA is deeply proud and honored to be nominated for the third year in a row in our business category,” noted Anthony Maruri, President of GET-NSA (a joint venture between Global Engineering & Technology and Atkins US). He added, “Our exemplary performance is a direct consequence of our first-rate team members, all of whom commit themselves entirely to performing some of our nation’s most delicate and important work.”

DOE's Small Business of the Year Awards program was established to recognize exceptional performance by departmental offices, facility management contractors and small business ventures on an annual basis. According to OSDBU, criteria for the award focus on those who excel beyond expectations or contract requirements by providing:

• Creative or unique solutions to DOE requirements

• Extraordinary customer service, and/or significant value (schedule and budget related)

• Productivity and efficiency gains

• Innovative ideas to the specific project and/or task being performed

• Cost, time, and manpower savings for the Department
